AIME / FIELD NOTES

Talkie AI Alternatives in 2026
(Memory, Group Chat & Mobile Card Apps)

Talkie (today often listed on iOS as Talkie Lab - AI Playground, from SUBSUP) is a mobile AI character chat app people use for a large cast of community characters, voice-style play, and collectible / gem loops. Searches for Talkie AI alternatives / apps like Talkie usually mean: “I want another phone character chat with less gacha pressure, clearer memory, or portable cards” — not “replace Character.AI’s web library” and not “clone Kindroid’s call stack.”

We build AIME and the AIME Character Atlas. Disclosed up front. AIME is one option at the end: long-term memory, natural voice responses, multi-character group chats, free download with optional Premium, plus portable Tavern cards. We will not invent ratings, claim we beat Talkie’s memory in a lab test, or promise “one-click migrate my Talkie characters.” Checked 2026-10-30 (Asia/Shanghai).

This page is not the same intent as:

Those start from other products. Start here when Talkie / Talkie Lab is the app you are leaving or comparing.

Name collision: this article is about SUBSUP’s character-chat Talkie / Talkie Lab — not Talkie.ai (enterprise phone / voice-agent products). If you landed here from a business telephony search, you are in the wrong guide.

Third-party pages opened for structure (not copied score tables or traffic stats): Tendera’s Talkie AI alternatives 2026 (June 23, 2026 · Updated October 28, 2026; they disclose their own product), iloveai.chat’s apps like Talkie (UPDATED OCTOBER 25, 2026), and Nika’s Talkie AI alternatives (July 20, 2026; they disclose their own Telegram product). Nika’s wider framing leans adult — this article is not an NSFW shopping list. Content stance varies by app; verify each store listing yourself.

Why people look for a Talkie alternative

Tendera’s October 2026 update groups common leave reasons into product-shaped buckets (attributed to their writeup, not our survey): gacha / gem loops, content rules tightening, shallow memory, and wanting a companion that feels like it remembers you. iloveai’s October 25, 2026 guide adds store-side friction from a dated App Store review sample (their window roughly 2026-09-23 → 2026-10-23): topic / filter prompts, ads, deleted characters, and price complaints — treat that as one third-party dated sample, not our measurement.

Other reasons we hear in the category (not gossip):

  • You want memory you can notice over a few days — see what long-term memory means.
  • You want several characters in one scene (group chat explainer).
  • You want portable Tavern cards Talkie’s collectible pool is not built around — Atlas / AIME path below.
  • You prefer a different phone app / store framing — confirm each listing’s age rating yourself.

Talkie vs Talkie Lab (naming): iloveai’s history note says the original Talkie iOS listing disappeared around late 2024 and Talkie Lab - AI Playground appeared around February 2025, while Android often still brands as Talkie. On 2026-10-30 our App Store lookup still resolves Talkie Lab - AI Playground (SUBSUP PTE. LTD., content advisory 17+ in that lookup). Always re-check your region’s App Store / Play page — names and ratings change.

How to choose before you install five apps

Less gacha / gem pressure

Talkie-style apps often mix character chat with collect / spend loops. Tendera’s Oct 2026 framing treats that as a common leave reason. AIME is not a gacha collectible pool — it is a companion + optional Tavern card path. That is a product-shape difference, not a claim that our economy “wins.”

Memory visibility

Tendera’s guide calls Talkie memory “shallow”; iloveai notes extra memory may be paid — both are third-party dated notes, not our lab results. Do not trust invented benchmark tables. Run a two-day continuity test yourself. Framework: AI chat long-term memory.

Group chat / multiple characters

If you liked Talkie’s cast energy but want several characters in one conversation, shortlist apps that document group chat. AIME’s FAQ: group chats let you combine several AI characters in one conversation. Details without invented button names: AI group chat characters.

Phone app first

Talkie lives on phones. Shortlist apps that document mobile install paths. AIME: iOS 15+, Android via Play or homepage APK — install guide.

Cards vs a giant in-app pool

Talkie optimizes a large in-app character pool. AIME’s honest tradeoff: the public Atlas catalog is still small relative to that pool, but you can import Tavern V2/V3 PNG cards via Character Atlas. If cards are the gap, read the import guide. There is no credible one-click “import my Talkie characters / memories” path across apps — iloveai’s guide says the same shape of limitation; we will not invent a migrator.

Free vs paid

AIME: free to download; Premium optional; prices shown in the store. Competitor roundups cite Talkie / Talkie Lab subscription or gem figures with dates — treat those as third-party dated notes; verify live store screens. Do not hard-code dollars as our audit.

Kindroid note (dated free-plan conflict)

If an older directory still says Kindroid has an unlimited free Lite tier, that is outdated. BestCompanionsAI (Checked Oct 20, 2026) and our Kindroid alternatives page attribute no ongoing free plan since October 1, 2026. Confirm on kindroid.ai and the stores.

Short notes on the main options

Character.AI

Right tool if you missed a massive public library more than Talkie’s mobile pool. Wrong tool if you only wanted “Talkie without gems.” Pair with our alternatives and vs AIME pages.

Kindroid / Nomi / Replika

Companion-shaped apps when you care more about one deep character (or a small cast) than a collectible mall. Start from #23, #24, and #25 rather than treating them as Talkie clones.

Adult-leaning directories

Some Talkie alternative roundups (including Nika’s July 2026 list) tilt toward adult chat sites. We do not endorse or shop those lists here. Content stance varies — check age ratings and your own comfort.

AIME

From 365aime.com (2026-10-30 check aligned with prior homepage / FAQ copy):

  • Long-term memory so later chats stay consistent
  • Natural voice responses
  • Group chats with multiple AI characters
  • Character Atlas for Tavern Character Cards V2/V3
  • Free to download; Premium optional; languages listed as English, Japanese, Chinese on the App Store per FAQ
  • Devices: iPhone iOS 15+, Android via Play or homepage APK — install guide

Honest limits: public Atlas catalog is still small next to Talkie-style pools; we are not a gacha collectible app; we do not claim a memory lab win over Talkie; test continuity yourself for a few days.

FAQ

What is the best Talkie AI alternative?

Depends whether you optimize for less gacha, memory, group scenes, voice, or card import. No single winner. Prefer apps you can test for a few days.

Is Talkie the same as Talkie Lab?

Same product family in third-party histories: iOS often brands Talkie Lab - AI Playground; Android may still say Talkie. Confirm the live store title in your region. Our 2026-10-30 App Store lookup resolved Talkie Lab (SUBSUP).

Is this about Talkie.ai the business phone agent?

No. This guide is only about the character chat app. Enterprise Talkie.ai telephony products are out of scope.

Can I move my Talkie characters or memories to another app?

Not in any reliable one-click way that competitor guides document. Treat history and in-app characters as non-portable; rebuild context or import your own Tavern cards where supported.

Did Talkie die / leave every store?

No — do not treat “Talkie is dead” headlines as settled. iOS currently surfaces as Talkie Lab in our 2026-10-30 check; Android / Play branding can differ. Verify your store.

Is AIME free?

AIME is free to download; Premium is optional. That is not a promise that every feature is unlimited forever — trust in-App and store screens.

Is this an NSFW alternatives list?

No. We mention adult-oriented directories only as category context. AIME stays store-safe / 13+-framed on our side.

How is this different from Character.AI alternatives?

C.AI searches center a web-scale public library + filters. Talkie searches center a mobile character pool + gacha/filter/memory friction. Open #1 when Character.AI is the product you are leaving.
